Copper Pot MuttonOur Story
Beijing Hot Pot was opened to bring the old-city ritual of copper pot dining to Budapest — the split broth pot, the hand-sliced meat, the slow simmer that turns a meal into an occasion rather than a rush.
Alongside the pot, our wok line runs a full Sichuan menu — kung pao chicken, cumin lamb, twice-cooked pork — and our grill turns out char-roasted duck and fish. Every plate reaches the table the way it would in a proper Beijing dining room: hot, sliced to order, and meant to be shared.
"One pot. One flame. Everyone at the table." — The Beijing Hot Pot Way
The Ritual
Hot pot isn't a dish that's served to you — it's built at the table, one step at a time. Here's how a table at Beijing Hot Pot unfolds.
Split copper pot — a mild bone broth on one side, fiery mala on the other.
Lamb, beef and seasonal vegetables hand-cut in the kitchen and sent straight out.
The pot stays lit — cook each plate at your own pace, share by share.
Finish every bite at the dipping bar — sesame, chili oil, scallion and more.
The Dipping Bar
No two bowls at our table look the same. Mix and match from six house-made sauces to finish every slice from the pot.
Ground sesame paste, peanut butter and a touch of sugar — the classic hot pot base.
Fried garlic, dried chili flake and hot oil — sharp, punchy heat for the copper pot side.
Fresh scallion and ginger steeped in warm oil — light and aromatic, best on lamb.
Light soy, black vinegar and a little sugar — clean and balanced for delicate cuts.
Red fermented tofu whisked smooth — deep, savory, distinctly old-Beijing.
Sichuan peppercorn and dried chili — the mala side of the pot, reserved for the brave.

The three dishes our regulars order again and again — and again.
Carved table-side with pancakes, scallion and sweet Beijing sauce. The dish every table orders at least once.
The house signature. Hand-sliced mutton, split broth, and the full dipping bar to build your own bowl.
Silky beef in a fiery Sichuan broth. Not for the faint of heart — exactly why regulars keep asking for it.

Guest Reviews
"Genuinely the most authentic hot pot I've had outside China. The copper pot, the hand-cut lamb — it's the real thing."
"We ordered the Peking duck for a birthday dinner and it was carved right at our table. Incredible presentation and even better flavor."
"The dipping bar is such a fun touch — everyone at the table ended up with a completely different sauce. Great for groups."
"Boiled beef in chili oil is properly spicy, not watered-down for a European crowd. Exactly how I remember it from Chengdu."
"Near Budapest's Chinatown, easy to miss but worth the trip. Portions are generous and the broth is simmered, not from a packet."
