Handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza and a cellar of Italian wine, set where Pest meets the river — modern Italian cooking with an unmistakably Budapest address.

Porto di Pest takes its name literally: a porto, an Italian harbour table, set down on the Pest side of the Danube. We opened wanting Budapest to have a room that felt the way a good Italian trattoria feels — unhurried, warmly lit, and built around the table rather than the clock.
Our pasta is rolled by hand each morning, our dough rests for two days before it ever sees the wood-fired oven, and our cellar is stocked almost entirely from small Italian producers we visit ourselves. It's a small, deliberate kitchen — but every plate that leaves it is meant to taste like it was made for exactly one table.
"Sit close to the water. Let the pasta come to you." — The Porto di Pest welcome
Executive Chef
Trained across kitchens in Turin and Milan before bringing Piedmont technique to a Danube-side dining room — Alessandro treats Budapest's markets the way he once treated Italy's, hunting for the best of what's local and letting the season decide the menu.
"A good ragù doesn't rush. Neither should the table it's served at."
Why Guests Return
From an aperitivo by the window to a slow, wine-paired dinner — Porto di Pest is built for the whole range of an Italian evening.
Rolled fresh each morning in full view of the room — no dried pasta ever leaves our kitchen.
A two-day dough, a wood-fired oven, and 90 seconds — our pizza the way Naples taught us.
Over 120 labels sourced directly from small growers in Piedmont, Tuscany and beyond.
Riverfront seating with a view toward the bridges — best held for golden hour.
Negroni, small plates and the day's antipasti from 17:00 — the room's quiet favourite.
Budapest's Italian table of record — built one handmade plate at a time since 2015.
Wine Collection
Sourced on visits to the growers themselves — our cellar leans on the regions our chef knows best.

"We came for pizza and left with a new favourite Barolo. The wine list is genuinely serious."
"Terrace table at sunset, a bottle of Etna Rosso, the Danube right there. Budapest doesn't get more romantic."
"The pasta is rolled in front of you — it shows. Everything tastes like it was made an hour, not a week, ago."
"Warm without trying too hard, and the aperitivo hour is the best-kept secret in Belváros."
